About the Author

Viktorija Janić, an independent visual artist of Serbian origin, was born on 30 November 1975 in the central region of South Bačka, in Bačka Palanka, Serbia. Her inclination and a profound passion towards applied arts date back to her childhood. From her earliest years, she manifested an interest into researching most various forms of art; hence, it comes as no surprise that she was redirected towards art by this refined inclination towards and sensibility to the beauty of art and its very nature.

She received elementary education in Novi Sad, where she also attended a High School of Agriculture.Soon after, she headed for the United States, where she enrolled and graduated from the North Virginia Community College in Alexandria, the field of study – Business Administration. Her conscientious efforts brought her an honorary citizenship of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA, awarded by the Mayor StephenR. Reed on 7 July 2009. Upon her return to Serbia in 2011, she went on to study in the field of Economics – International Business at Megatrend University in Belgrade, from which she graduated in2014. Her thesis was entitled “The practice of multi-criteria Investment decision making in the contemporary business.” She showed her dedication to what she did by publishing her research,“Franchising as a form of initiating and developing entrepreneurial businesses in Serbia.” She successfully enrolled to specialist studies at the state University of Novi Sad, in the field of Banking and Insurance, and she continued pursuing a career in this field. For a certain number of years, she worked in corporate systems in Serbia as well as abroad.

Even though she established herself as a highly competent businesswoman, Viktorija Janić decided to quit banking and corporate world and to delve into something diametrically different to it. Led by the thoughts of the famous American philosopher and poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson, that every artist was at first an amateur, she bravely stepped into this new world as an independent artist following her inner instinct and the passion that was smouldering deep inside her from her earliest age. Everlasting passion towards applied artistic expression and her passion to implicate her ideas into the artistic creation found its own way and are on display.

Determined to use research, knowledge, skills, abilities and resources to find the best ways to achieve her goals, she opened a new chapter in her life. In 2020, she became a member of the Association of the artisans of the city of Novi Sad. In the same year, “The Novi Sad City Administration for Economy”supported her project and founded the “Viktorija Janić Art Studio.” In 2021, “The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Serbia” awarded her a special certificate with the “product of art” label, which displays a stylistic label of an open palm or a proprietary trademark. Recently, in 2022, she also became a member of “The Union of Business Women of Vojvodina.”

“An exhibition of the synergy between MATH, ART & EXPERIENCE” was her first solo art exhibition sponsored by and realized in association with “The Centre for Culture, Sport and Tourism of the Municipality of Beočin.”

Viktorija Janić desires to continue her development as an independent visual artist and to implement her ideas into numerous works of art.
