According to the legends, the symbolism of the unicorn is powerful. In the east, they believe unicorn to be the symbol of rain and fertility. Muslim tradition links the unicorn to lotus flower, the symbol of purity. In the west, its horn symbolizes the sword of God. Nordic mythology perceives it as the embodiment of greatness and integrity. With a horn on its forehead, and with a mighty yet graceful body, a unicorn is difficult to approach. It guards the entrance to the kingdom of fairies and is surrounded by kind creatures such as fairies and elves. Unicorns will allow only special ones to pass doors to their kingdom. Their discernment of one’s flaws is so precise that, with just one kick of their hoofs, they can instantly kill a person whom they feel had done harm to somebody.
Although they are immortal, according to the legends of various cultures, unicorns have their enemies: dragons, harpies and chimeras. This installation also depicts unicorn’s mane and tail in a careful mathematical manner emphasizing Fibonacci spirals.
