This piece of art displays the round bee dance, which tells us, as well as the observing bees, about the direction and distance to patches of flowers, i.e. that patches of flowers are in proximity of the beehive. This dance is the bees’ means of communication. The bee walks in circles and it twists, then repeats it all in the opposite direction; and repeats the process many times until the message is successfully sent and received.
If we know that in Fibonacci sequence each number is the sum of the previous two, and that there are 21 bees in this piece of art, by dividing two successive numbers, which in this case are 21 and 13, we learn that the approximate ratio is 1.61803. This is the beauty, harmony, and the perfection of the golden ratio and the divine proportion!
But, that is not all. Bees are hardworking and industrious, and they set high goals for themselves. They call for productivity and creation. If we link them to the concept of communities we live in, then each one of us could use our own talent for the benefit of humankind, which in the end, could be considered the personal fulfillment to strive to.
