Gingerbread may be one of the universally most recognizable sweets. Made of honey, flour and aromatic spices, it is often referred to as the honey biscuit too. It found its place in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage of the world, which only confirmed its global value.
Historical data indicate that it dates back to the ancient Egypt. Various shapes of these biscuits were found in pyramid excavations. In Serbia and Croatia, these biscuit is called Licider’s heart, its manufacture dates back to the mid-19th century, where nowadays these super popular and delicious biscuits are more often than not, sold in fun fairs and carnivals. To give this biscuit to someone equals giving one’s heart to them. The greater the love is the bigger Licider’s heart or gingerbread.

This piece of work displays both the value and the size of gingerbread in a slightly different, unique, way.

I am Viktorija Janić, a visual artist, human being with a creative mind who not only enjoys her work - I passionately love what I do. I love to unique creative passion. I dedicated the second half of my life to creating work of art on a two or three-dimensional surface using various tools, paper, glue, paint and my own hands, while creating something that can evoke an emotional response or can stimulate the observer's intellect, or it could be both.
